Anaheim Vegan Faire 2017 Was A Vegan's Dream Come True

Hello herbivores, carnivores, and everyone in between! I just attended Healthy Junk's Vegan Faire in Anaheim and let me tell ya: it blew me out of the water.

I go to plenty of vegan events each and every year but there's just something about the Anaheim Vegan Faire that keeps me coming back.

Considering it's held in Center City Anaheim and presented by everyone's favorite fast casual vegan eatery Healthy Junk, I knew from the get-go that it was going to be one quality event. And the moment I got there and felt the energy around me, I knew that I was right.

Anaheim's Vegan Faire is all about community. You don't have to empty your bank account just to get it. In fact, admission is completely free! You don't need to drop $20 for a parking spot half a mile away because they provide free parking and a shuttle if the garage is at capacity. In addition, no one's judging you by your eating habits. Whether you're a vegan, vegetarian, or omnivore, you're welcomed. There's absolutely no ego to it! It's just all about having a good time and eating the best vegan food in the OC area. It was nice to see people from all walks of life coming together to celebrate veganism.

Here's some of the noms I tried:

 Abbot's Butcher
Their "California Burger" ended up being one of the best burgers I've ever had! In-N-Out has nothing on Abbot's Butcher. It was crafted with a "beef" patty, Follow Your Heart cheese, veganaise, thousand island dressing, lettuce, tomato and pickles. While I normally go for Beyond Burgers, the freshness of Abbot's burger made me forgot I was eating plants for a second.

 Baby Love Sweetery
I've seen Baby Love Sweetery at tons of vegan events before, but finally tried them! I enjoyed the cupcake stack, but I probably wouldn't intentionally get it again. Does it make for an aesthetically pleasing picture? Yes. Is it good? Sure. But is it worth it? Meh.

Divine Dips
Talk about divine! Considering it's 2017, there's hundreds of vegan-friendly ice cream companies. It can be hard to differentiate them because they're all so frickin delicious! Divine Dips however, proved their uniqueness with their diverse array of flavors. I had the matcha green tea cone and it was delicious!

Clean South
Vegan southern food? Count me in! I tried their popcorn chicken at Eat Drink Vegan earlier this year, and while it was good, the texture didn't remind me of popcorn chicken. However, when that same chicken was put into buffalo wing form, magic happened. It was literally to die for! And their pimento mac-and-cheese was HEAVENLY. In fact, I'm dreaming about it right now...

Vegan Dots
Yes, vegan dippin dots exist and they are everything you've ever dreamed of. I don't know how they do it, but they're sure as hell doing it right!

Vegan Pizza
Is it really a faire without corn dogs? This plant-based corn dog from Vegan Pizza literally made my day. I felt like a child again! (You know, minus the harming animals just for a snack part.)

Fancy some fried chicken and freshly cut fries? Veganation has got your back. This line was without a doubt one of the longest lines at Vegan Faire. I'm pretty sure we stood there for at least an hour! But hey, I can't blame them, everything was fresh! This chicken was fried for the GODS. Honestly, I was impressed. Most vegan chicken only had a little bit of breading on it, but this had layers and layers of carby goodness.

In addition to the fresh food you could purchase, there were also tons of vendors giving out free samples and goodies like Essentia, Califia Farms, Bare Dried Fruit, and Follow Your Heart. Not to mention the cute doggos walking around!

There were also tons of vegan-friendly retailers selling everything from clothes to dog treats to beauty products! I also got the opportunity to chat with the folks at the Anaheim Halloween Parade, which I can't wait to go to. many days till Vegan Faire 2018...?
