My First Ladurée Experience

Macarons are all the latest craze right now. But I'll admit, they aren't my go-to dessert. Believe it or not, I don't have a sweet tooth at all. I prefer salty or spicy. Carbs and sodium > sugar. However, I've always wanted to try macarons. And I got to! Back in Ohio, I tried some from Whole Foods and another local health store. It was...well, it was okay. But nothing to go crazy about. That was my first impression of a macaron.

I've always wanted to go to Ladurée. Everything about it seemed so attractive. The pastels, the cute little boxes the macarons come in, and the macarons themselves! I've seen photos from several different locations, and some even served tea and little sandwiches! I just knew I had to go. NY has two locations, one only a couple blocks away from where I live. I made my first trip to Ladurée a few days ago. And I have one word: YES.

It's expensive, sure. I mean macarons are expensive no matter where you go. But it's kind of like going to the movie theatre. You spend so much money on an evening ticket with concessions because it's worth the experience. I got six macarons of my choice in a cute reusable box for 21 dollars. I had one of the macarons immediately, coconut flavor. Let me tell you: it wasn't even comparable to the macarons I've had before. Soft, decadent, delicious: three words to describe them. Honestly, it was amazing. Still not my go-to dessert, but if you love macarons, you HAVE to go here. If you're not sure how you feel about macarons, just go here anyways.

I do recommend eating the macarons as soon as possible, because after they're in the fridge for a while, they aren't as good. Overall, Ladurée is amazing. Because it's expensive and rare to come across, I recommend dropping by at least once.
